Hope Munsey "Phillips" O'Dell, 98, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, May 17.

    Virgil G. McCarty, 71, of Anna passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at his home in Anna.  He was born in Eldorado, IL on July 13, 1951 the son of Virgil Gerald McCarty and Lena J. (Osman) McCarty.  Virgil had been a resident at Community Integrated Living (New Way) in Anna for several years and worked at J.R.'s Centre Day Training Program in Anna.

   Stephanie Ann Fortner, 70, of Carmi, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Heart Hospital, in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born on February 8, 1952, the daughter of Rev. Robert Edward and Bettye Jean (Watson) Fortner. 

Nancy Louise Epperson passed away on August 5, 2022 . Nancy was born in McLeansboro Illinois on May 11, 1947 to Evans and Marjorie Williams who preceded her in death. She married her high school sweetheart and husband of 55 years, John Stephen Epperson at Blooming Grove church on August 28, 1966.

     Vaudie Lee (Foley) Dosher, 92, of Enfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Enfield Rehab and Health Care Center.  She was born on February 20, 1930, in Hamilton County, near Springerton, the daughter of Luther Ray and Clemie J. (York) Foley.  Vaudie married Bill Dosher on December 17, 1948, and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1986.  She worked as a nurse at the Hamilton County Hospital for many years.  Vaudie was a member of the Enfield Christian Church for 70 years.  She was the past leader of the Enfield Blue Ribbon 4-H club and was a member of the Enfield Women's Spirit of Progress Club, the Republicans Women organization, and the Red Hatters. Vaudie loved spending her time gardening.

Verna D. (Martin) Webb, 83, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Hamilton Memorial Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in McLeansboro.

Winnie Margaret (Trosclair) Phillips, 82, of Norris City, IL, entered heaven’s rest, Monday, August 1, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. Winnie was born on December 10, 1939, in Houma, LA, the daughter of Earl Anthony and Margaret Josephine (Blanchard) Trosclair. On September 10, 1956, Winnie married Charles Alva Phillips and together they shared over 42 years of marriage before his passing on September 23, 1998. Winnie was a woman of faith, who loved the Lord Jesus and her family. She spent her life working various jobs and most recently was retired after owning Phillips Army Surplus Store in Norris City, IL. Winnie was the founding member of Outreach for Christ Tabernacle in Brownsville, IL.

Charles L. “Jumbo” Gwaltney, 94, of Carmi, Illinois, died Monday, August 1, 2022, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, Illinois.  He was born March 12, 1928, in Carmi, the son of Charles E. Gwaltney and Sarah Louise (Fulford) Gwaltney.  He was married to Mildred (Russell) Gwaltney, and she survives.

Martha Lou (Vaupel) Wolford, 77, of Carmi, Illinois, died Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois.  She was born August 3, 1944, in White County, Illinois, the daughter of George and Jennavee (Elliott) Vaupel.  She married Fred Leon Wolford on May 15, 1965, and he preceded her in death on November 9, 2019.

Penny Lasater Lee was born on April 3, 1952 in Eldorado, Illinois to Betty (Pennington) and Claude Lasater. She graduated from Eldorado High School in 1970. Penny married Roger Lee on December 19, 1979.
