Sue Thomason, 94, of Carmi passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. She was born in Christopher, IL on January 30, 1931 the daughter of Rolla and Lillie Mae (Eldridge) Sims. Sue married William "Bill" Thomason on August 7, 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1986. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi, where she was involved with 55 and Alive and had helped with past Vacation Bible Schools. Sue was quite the artist and enjoyed painting, especially in oil and pastels, and drawing. She also enjoyed reading, camping and being involved with the Red Hatters.

Lynn Smith, 73, of Norris City passed away on September 22, 2025, at his residence in Norris City surrounded by his family. He was born on December 28, 1951, in Norris City at his family home, the son of Charles and Norma (Martin) Smith. Lynn married Mary Ann Walters on August 28, 1971, and they shared over 54 years of marriage together. Lynn was a member of the Norris City Church of God and served for many years as the Sunday School Superintendent. From an early age Lynn developed the love of agriculture and continued that throughout his adult life with retiring from Wabash Valley after 43 years of service. He also loved to fish, go to tractor and farm shows, farm auctions, tractor pulls, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Maryellen Faye (Marsh) Collins of Wayne City, IL passed away at her home on Sept. 20th, 2025 at 3:00pm with her two children by her side. She was 98 years old and had been in declining health for quite some time. She had been placed on hospice care since March of 2022. Maryellen was born on November 26, 1926 in Barnhill, IL to Ben & Anna (Gifford) Marsh.

Betty J. Wagner, 100, of Carmi passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at her residence in Carmi. She was born on December 21, 1924, the daughter of Dolph and Clara Bell (McCarthy) Beasley. Betty married Mendell E. “Wag” Wagner on May 30, 1965, and they shared over 17 years of marriage together until his passing on February 23, 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi. She also loved to cook, bake, spend time with her family, enjoyed traveling, and witnessed her faith. Betty owned and operated alongside her husband Mendell, Wag’s Market in East Carmi.

She was born on July 4, 1927 in Springerton, IL the daughter of George Harlan and Mary Leona (Wright) Cushman. Dorothy married Garrett Francis South on August 31, 1946 and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2019. She had worked as a bookkeeper at C.A. French and Son and later helped Garrett on the family farm. Dorothy enjoyed working in her garden and canning what she grew. She loved to cook and wanted to make sure everyone had plenty to eat. Dorothy was a faithful member of over 70 years at Springerton Christian Church.
