Illinois State Police have released information on a deadly crash that happened on New Year’s Day along Highway 141 near Epworth Road in White County. Officials say 47 year old Keely D. Wright of Shawneetown was pronounced dead on scene of the accident just before a quarter after 3pm on Saturday. A 12 year old female was also in the car at the time of the accident and was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The preliminary investigation has led authorities to believe Wright was attempting to pass another vehicle when her auto hit standing water and hydroplaned, eventually leaving the south side of the roadway and traveled down an embankment before striking a tree.
