White County Board Breezes through Skimpy Agenda for June

White County leaders got home before the sun went down Wednesday evening.  Board members breezed through a 25-minute meeting scarce of agenda items.  Chairwoman Cassie Pigg was absent and there was no public in the gallery.  Sarah Kary, CPA with Rice and Sullivan presented the audit; you can find the entire 151 page document at https://irp.cdn-website.com/4e51b38b/files/uploaded/White_County_11302024.pdf.  In the consent agenda, the board approved the sale of a parcel located at 216 East Commerce in Grayville to John Lemmerman for $6,803.21 and also a liquor license for the Springerton American Legion.

Also Wednesday night, discussion continues as the region tries to put the landfill litigation in it’s rearview mirror.  The board did vote to pay the most recent bill for soil samples.

In new business, a payment of $52,051.60 was approved to Southeastern Illinois College.  That payment is in reference to the Energy Transition Grant Representative Dave Severin was key in acquiring.  Read more at White County Board Doles Out More than Half a Million in Energy Transition Grant Funds Tuesday – WRUL-FM

The board adjourned at 7:25pm and will next convene July 16th at 7pm.  A building committee meeting is anticipated prior to that next gathering.
