
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office along with McLeansboro Police Department, McLeansboro Fire Department and Hamilton County Ambulance Service responded to a reported traffic crash with injuries early this morning on State Route 142 near County Road 460 East, just west of McLeansboro. The accident took place around 3:13 this morning.
The driver of the vehicle, Harland Hammond, was extricated from the vehicle with minor injuries. He was transported to Hamilton Memorial Hospital for treatment. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office then located over 100 grams of methamphetamine inside of Hammond’s vehicle. Hammond was released from treatment and taken directly into custody of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Improper Lane Usage. Hammond is currently being held at the White County Jail pending court appearance.
