Hamilton County Youth Killed in Auto Accident; Vigil and Funeral Planned

Tragedy struck Hamilton County Thursday night as a two vehicle accident claimed the life of a Hamilton County Senior High School student and left another with life threatening injuries.  Illinois State Police say the accident happened on Highway 242 near County Road 2400 North, just south of I-64 at around 8:30pm.  According to the preliminary crash investigation, the 17 year old driver of a 2010 gray Volvo was traveling south on the highway and for unknown reasons crossed the center line into the northbound lane and struck a tan Nissan, also driven by a 17 year old male.  Coleton Foley was pronounced dead at the scene.  The other driver was taken to a hospital to treat life threatening injuries.  Hamilton County High School will hold a candlelight vigil Saturday night around 8:30pm at the football field.  Funeral services for Foley will be held on Monday at the Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church, near McLeasnboro .  Find more information in the local death announcements section of our website or by clicking here.
