Abell to be Removed from June 28 Primary Ballot following Electoral Board Hearing

At least temporarily, two White County citizens have succeeded in getting a candidate thrown off the June 28th primary ballot.  Kathy Sands and Debbie Bunting filed the objection to Terry Abell’s re-election campaign following the filing of petitions March 7th – 14th.  In their grievance, Sands and Bunting allege that Abell didn’t include a certificate of qualification at the time she filed as a candidate.  Over the near two hour Election Board hearing, White County States Attorney Denton Aud, Circuit Clerk Kelly Fulkerson, and County Clerk Beth Sell heard testimony and were presented evidence though most of the time was spent trying to sort out what Aud called the “ambiguity of the statute”.

Ultimately, it’s a technicality as Abell wouldn’t be allowed to be the current Supervisor of Assessments were she not certified.  Abell was able to show that her certification was being processed, but didn’t have the actual certification to file at the time she turned in the remainder of her paperwork.  In the end, a unanimous decision was made in favor of the objectors.  There will be a formal written ruling on Thursday afternoon at 1pm.  At which time, Abell will have the opportunity to ask for a judicial review which could overturn the Electoral Board’s decision.

We’re 2 copies of the objection filed with the county clerk. If not it should be dismissed

Appears to be more trumped up bull
dung …. If she has the qualifications,
her certificate should already been on file and should not been questioned.
Just another underhanded dirty deed in upcoming election.

If she isn’t qualified then how is she able to hold her position now? Her certification isn’t what in question sounds to me they just want to run someone out of office to get their own candidate in there. Dirty dirty politics

Ambiguity. The quality of being open to more than one interpretation; inexactness per dictionary Just so l get this straight the election board chose drastic action even though the states att. Admitted there was ambiguity in the statute let alone the complaint was not filed by the other candidate if they keep going in that dictionary they will find another word to describe this DUMB

Voters beware. Those two ladies did not do this, no the culprit is a man who is afraid of not winning, so he hides behind the women’s skirts and talks them into filing the complaint. No lower skum is there. Put Terry Abel back on the ballot and let this be a fair race.

Did Kathy Sands and Debbie Bunting check every person running in White County for complete paperwork? Or just Terry Abell? I have no issue at all with citizens being part of all the checks and balances to make sure am election is ran correctly, but if we’re just making targeted attacks on people… The White County Circus doesn’t need any extra clowns.
