White County has issued a formal disaster declaration. With the significant snowfall today on top of the ice storm earlier this week, White County EMA Director Jim Bolin and County Board Chairwoman Cassie Pigg say they felt it pertinent to put steps in place should additional issues arise. To be clear, the declaration doesn’t mean something catastrophic has happened or is imminent. It’s a procedural move in the event of a major failure.
Pigg says, “Just for clarification, this declaration is being made to maintain resources as we move forward through this winter storm. The county has already endured a lot of strain, and we are unsure of what will be needed as we move forward and recover from this event.”
