Two Carmi residents were injured in an ATV accident Saturday night in rural White County. Just after 7 pm, White County 911 received a call about the accident on County Road 600 E north of Route 141.
White County Sheriff’s deputies and the White County Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene. There they found 38 year old Curtis Martin and 37 year old Jennifer Strickland both conscious and complaining of injury. Martin said that he was driving the ATV when a deer jumped into the road and struck the vehicle. The ATV went off the road into an embankment and overturned.
Martin and Strickland were stabilized at the scene by paramedics, and transported to area hospitals by helicopter. More information may be made available at a later time by the Sheriff’s Department.
