
Two individuals received sentences to the Illinois Department of Corrections Wednesday morning.
36 year old Christopher D. Blazier of Carmi was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with one year of Mandatory Supervised Release plus costs for Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, a class 3 felony.
Blazier was arrested on a warrant in December 2018 by Carmi Police for Domestic Battery. Upon his arrest, he was discovered to be in possession of a taser and had previously been convicted of a felony. His sentence will run concurrently with the sentence entered in his Domestic Battery case on Monday afternoon. Blazier was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge.
Donald Stover, 45, of Carmi will face 3 years and 9 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections with two years of mandatory supervised release plus costs and restitution on a count of Burglary, a class 2 felony, and two years in the Department of Corrections with one year of Mandatory Supervised Release for Obstructing Justice, a class 4 felony.
Stover was arrested by Carmi police for Aggravated Assault and Disorderly Conduct in September 2020. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that he had committed a burglary at Slay’s Carpet in Carmi. Stover was on probation for an Obstructing Justice case at the time the offense occurred. Stover was also represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge.
