NCOE School Board Approves Budget

The NCOE Board of Education recently held a public hearing June 19th at 7:00 p.m. and passed the 2018-2019 amended budget.

During the regularly scheduled board meeting that followed, the minutes and the bills for the month were approved as presented.

The administrators stated summer maintenance is on schedule with the cleaning, painting and prepping the classrooms. Mr. Vollman gave the Board a rundown of what is in progress and what is scheduled to be completed. Clinton Electric is ahead of schedule on the electrical upgrade project at the high school. New scoreboards and an electrical American Flag have been installed in the high school gym.

Prairie Farms will once again provide milk for the 2019-2020 school year. CRS OneSource was awarded the bid for cafeteria supplies and bread and bakery products. A three-year bid was accepted from Bulldog Systems for trash pick-up for the District.

The Board set the meeting dates for the July 2019-June 2020.

The high school student handbooks as presented by Todd Haley were approved.

Approving the 2019-2020 school calendar was tabled.

The Board agreed to enter into an Oil and Gas Lease with JOG Corporation for mineral interest in the Booth Trust.

The Board entered into executive session at 8:36 p.m. to discuss personnel and a reorganization of jr. high staff.

Following executive session the Board accepted resignation from Lisa Deen, NCO aide; Todd Haley, NCOE principal; and Charla Lewis, Booth Special Education teacher.

The Board accepted the resignation letter from Scott Riggs for school board member. The Board will also be accepting applications for anyone interested in the position. Applicants must live in the NCOE CUSD#3 District. However, the Board currently has seated the maximum amount of members located in the Indian Creek N Township. If you are located in the Indian Creek N Township you need not apply. If you are interested in applying for the open board seat you can call the district office at 61-378-3222 for more information.

Logan Tharp was employed as Art Teacher for the NCOE School District.  The Board will be having a public meeting on July 1, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Booth Cafeteria to discuss the reorganization of the Booth and NCO jr. high classes.

In other business the Board: Accepted the Title District Wide Plan for NCO.  – Accepted the Consolidated District Plan.
