McLeansboro Officers Arrest Two Sunday

McLeansboro Police arrested a Mt. Vernon, Illinois man Sunday following a 2 vehicle accident at the intersection of West Randolph and Fairground Road.  Although there were no injuries, the crash investigation revealed fault in the accident lied with 40 year old Philip Chapman of Jefferson County.  Police Chief Nathan Taylor says additional investigating led to Chapman’s arrest for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash, Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Use of Property for Methamphetamine.  Chapman was taken to the White County Jail where he remains behind bars as of Tuesday morning.  He made a first appearance Monday afternoon and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 6th.

 

Also Sunday in McLeansboro, 27 year old Daniel Kirsch was pulled over for a routine traffic stop.  Officers say they knew Kirsch was wanted on a Failure to Appear Warrant out of Hamilton County and was subsequently arrested for Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, along with that FTA Warrant.  Kirsch successively posted $375 cash bond and was released from custody.  Kirsch has a Status Hearing set for August 13th and then a first appearance for his new charges a week later.
