A Carmi man is ok after a helicopter crash on the banks of a Marshall County, Kentucky lake Sunday.  Stan Williams says it was pilot error that landed him upside down on the banks of Cambridge Shores where he has a property.  Williams tells WROY/WRUL News he had just gotten out of church when a friend called with a part to put in a system at the home.  Williams said he decided to fly as it’s a 5 hour round trip drive, but just 45 minutes each way flying.  Williams landed in the backyard and then decided to move up to more level ground.  He says when he did so, the right skid got caught up in the bank.  The helicopter then went into a hydraulic rollover.  Williams says his dog baled out through the windshield and he suffered some minor cuts and bruises.  He was taken to the hospital there and released later that day.  A report with the FAA is expected.

A Norris City business is a total loss after a fire late Sunday night.  Norris City Fire Chief Troy Dagley is on vacation, so Captains Chris Garlick, Brad Hall, and Jarod McKenzie were tested as Bond’s Lumber and Hardware went up in flames.  Garlick says the call came in about 9pm and crews immediately called in Carmi and Enfield for mutual aid.  It appears the fire began on the backside of the building; an exterior crew began fighting the blaze from that angle while Garlick says another crew attempted to battle the flames from inside.  As conditions deteriorated, the captain said the inside crew was pulled and eventually the fire flashed over.  No cause has been determined as of this point.  The fire marshal has already been on scene and Garlick hopes to hear back from him later today with more information.
