Local Sports Recap – October 16, 2023

The Carmi-White County Bulldog football team defeated Eldorado Friday night by a final score of 14-8. The Bulldogs led 8-0 at halftime and the defense was able to keep the Eagles out of the endzone in the final minutes of the game to hang on with a 6-point victory. The Bulldogs improve to 7-1 on the season, they will host Johnston City this Friday for senior night to wrap up the regular season.

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team went 2-3 in the Edwards County and finished in 4th place in the Gold Bracket. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Charleston and Newton, but fell to Effingham, Edwards County and NCOE all in 3 sets. Congratulations to Caroline Simmons for making the all-tournament team. The Lady Bulldogs are now 22-6 on the season. They will travel to Harrisburg tonight and then host Grayville tomorrow for senior night. 

Back on Friday the CWC Girls Tennis team traveled to Carbondale for the IHSA Sectional. The Lady Bulldogs finished in 2nd place overall and senior Johanna Smith qualified for state in singles. She advances to the state finals this weekend in Chicago. Congratulations to the girls tennis team on a great season and best of luck to Johanna this weekend. 

The CWC Cross Country team will run at Gallatin County today.
