The Carmi-White County girls basketball team will begin action at the Harrisburg Preview tournament tonight as they take on Eldorado. The Lady Bulldogs are off to a 1-0 start after they defeated Lawrenceville back on Thursday 59-41. 

Carmi will then play West Frankfort tomorrow, Harrisburg on Wednesday and Anna-Jonesboro on Saturday.

Fans can listen to tonight’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL. Tip-off is set for 6 PM.

The CWC Boys Basketball team will tip-off their season tomorrow night as they travel to Gallatin County. The Bulldogs are looking for their 5th straight win over the Hawks. Fans will be able to watch and listen to tomorrow’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel.

Congratulations to the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces football team as they defeated Roxanna 63-48 on Saturday in the IHSA 3A Semifinals. The Golden Aces will play Byron this Friday at 4 PM in the 3A State Championship Game at Hancock Stadium on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal.

In other area high school football action from this weekend,
Athens defeated Shelbyville 39-6 in the IHSA 2A South Semifinals. They will take on Wilmington in the Illinois 2A State Championship on Friday. Athens was the team who defeated Carmi-White County in the playoffs last season.

Murphysboro fell to Rochester 42-14 in the IHSA 4A South Semifinal. Rochester will play Burbank in Friday’s IHSA 4A State Championship.

In Indiana, Gibson Southern fell to Heritage Hills in the 3A Southern Semi-State Championship. Heritage Hills will play Indianapolis-Bishop Chatard in the Indiana 3A State Championship Game on Friday.

North Posey defeated Southmont 37-7 in the 2A Southern Semi-State Championship. North Posey will take on Fort Wayne Bishop Luers in Saturday’s 2A State Championship Game.
