One week from tomorrow the Carmi-White County Boys Basketball team will tip off the 2024 season as they host the Gallatin County Hawks at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. The Bulldogs are coming off a 24-8 season, and they will bring back 3 of 5 starters from last year’s team. The team will be led this year by seniors Mitchel Edwards, Gavin Holloman, Kade Stockton, Beck Huff, and Cade Allen. After they host the Hawks next Tuesday, Carmi will then take part in the DuQuoin Tip-Off Classic the week after Thanksgiving. 

The Carmi-White County Girls Basketball team will begin their season this Thursday when they host Lawrenceville at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. The Lady Bulldogs are coming off their best season in over a decade as they went 26-6 last year. 

Fans will be able to watch and listen to Thursday’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel. 

Taking a look at scores from the quarterfinal round of the IHSA playoffs this past weekend;

In 1A, Casey-Westfield fell to Belleville Althoff, 54-7.
In 2A, Johnston City defeated Pana, 28-13. The Indians will host Maroa-Forsyth this Saturday in the Semifinal round.
In 3A, Nashville fell to Tolono-Unity, 47-24. Benton lost to Monticello in OT, 27-26.

In the IHSA Volleyball State Finals from this past weekend,
Calhoun (the team that defeated NCOE in the 1A Super-Sectional) defeated Stockon in 2 sets in the 1A State Championship.
Breese Mater Dei defeated Bloomington Central Catholic (the team that defeated CWC in the 2A Super Sectional) in 3 sets in the 2A State Championship.

Mahomet-Seymour won the 3A State Title, and Chicago-Marist won the 4A State Title.
