Local Sports Recap – April 5, 2023

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team shut out Hamilton County yesterday afternoon for their first conference win of the season.

The Lady Dogs were able to score early, plating one run in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Alayna Johnson. Carmi scored another in the 3rd, and 4 in the 5th thanks to back to back extra base hits by Addi Elliot and Mia Evans. Johnson put the finishing touches on the win with a solo home run in the 7th inning, capping off a 9-0 win for the Lady Bulldogs. 

Audrey Upton was once again dominant on the mound, allowing 0 runs on 6 hits, 1 walk and 11 strikeouts.

Carmi improves to 3-4 on the year, they will host Hamilton County tomorrow at Archie Brown Field, that game can be heard on 97.3 FM WRUL and online at WRUL.com.

The CWC baseball team did have as much yesterday as they fell to the Foxes, 6-4. 

Despite collecting just two hits on the day, Carmi was able to tie the game at 4 heading into the 4th inning. Hamilton County scored one in the 4th and another in the 5th to win it 6-4. 

The Bulldogs fall to 2-4 on the year, they will host Hamilton County tomorrow.
