Local Sports Recap – April 13, 2023

The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team fell on the road at Johnston City on Wednesday by a final score of 7-5.

The Dogs fell behind early after JC scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st Inning and another in the 2nd, but Carmi was able to bring home 5 runs in the top of the 3rd thanks to an RBI single from Cade Allen, an RBI double by Gavin Holloman, and an RBI groundout by Merrick Millhorn.

CWC led 5-3 going into the 4th inning, and that would be the last time that they led.

The Indians scored twice in the home 4th, and once more in the 5th to come away with the 7-5 win against their old BDC East rival.

The Dogs fall to 3-7 on the year as they have now lost 3-straight games.

CWC will play their 4th game in 4 days on Thursday as they travel to Flora for a rematch with the Wolves.

The CWC Lady Bulldog softball team will also travel to Flora today as they look to stay unbeaten in BDC play. The Lady Dogs are currently 7-4 on the year as they have won 5 straight games.

Other CWC teams in action today are the boys and girls track teams. The girls will travel to West Frankfort and the boys will travel to Flora.

The CWC Boys tennis team will travel to Mt. Vernon, Illinois – they look to improve to 8-0 on the year.
