ISP: Alcohol a factor in Edwards County crash early Thursday

Alcohol and speed were factors in an early morning crash Thursday in Edwards County according to the Illinois State Police.

District 19 troopers responded to the accident site on County Road 1275N approximately 1 mile east of Illinois 130 at 1:01 am.  There 54 year old Randy Lee Buchanan of Bridgeport had left the road and travelled up an embankment before his car struck several fence posts and overturned.

Buchanan was transported to an area hospital by the Edwards County Ambulance service.  He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage.

District 19 troopers were assisted at the scene by the Edwards County Sheriff’s Department, Albion Police Department, and Rick’s Towing of Grayville.
