Grayville City Council to Hold Public Hearing and Special Council Meeting Monday Night

The Grayville City Council will meet Monday night for a Public Hearing in regard to a Downstate Stabilization Grant at 6:45 p.m. followed by a Special City Council Meeting.

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, attendance is limited to the members of the Council, Clerk, Treasurer, City Attorney and news media. The public is invited to watch the meeting via Facebook live. https://www.facebook.com/cityofgrayville/ Click on the live video. If a member of the public wishes to address the public hearing attendees, they will be asked to wait outside of the council chambers and a member of the city council will bring in one person at a time. A member of the Grayville City Council will accept questions and comments from the Facebook Live format and it will be entered into the official record of the public hearing proceedings. Persons with disabilities or non-English speaking persons who wish to attend the public hearing and need assistance should contact JoEllen Seil, City of Grayville Clerk, 122 South Court Street, Grayville, IL 62844, 618-375-3671 no later than June 14, 2020. Every effort will be made to make reasonable accommodations for these persons.

On or about June 16, 2020, the City of Grayville intends to apply to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a grant from the State CDBG program. This program is funded by Title 1 of the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. These funds are to be used to provide working capital for the benefit of Wee Care Day Care. The total amount of CDBG funds to be requested is $20,000.00 and will address the urgent needs of the business due to the COVID-19 emergency.

Information related to this application will be available for review prior to the public hearing as of June 4, 2020 at the Grayville City Hall between the hours of 7:30 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. Written comments should be submitted to Mayor Travis Thompson, City of Grayville, 122 South Court, Grayville, IL no later than June 15, 2020 to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public hearing proceedings. This project will result in no displacement of any persons or businesses. During the Special City Council Meeting, they will discuss, consider, and possibly approve resolutions pertaining to the Downstate Stabilization Grant, review the Grant Participation Agreements, and take any additional action needed for the Grant Application.
