Monday afternoon saw an Eldorado man arrested in Posey County for serious charges.
Posey County Deputies were patrolling State Road 62 when they observed a vehicle speeding. A traffic stop was conducted, during which deputies noticed the driver, 46-year-old Eldorado native Damian Schile, sweating and appearing very nervous.
Upon suspicion, the Deputies requested to search Schile’s vehicle, which he denied. Undeterred, they called in K9 Basco to conduct a thorough free-air sniff around the car.
During the K9 unit’s inspection, other Deputies searched Schile’s person. To their surprise, a chewing tobacco can fell out of his pants leg. As it hit the ground, the top came off, revealing a plastic bag containing approximately 14.3 grams of alleged Methamphetamine.
After that, Schile confessed to possessing a HI-Point 9mm handgun under the driver’s seat. Posey County Deputies knew that Schile was considered a serious violent felon under Indiana law, placed him under arrest, and took him to the Posey County Jail.
Schile is facing charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.
