Corps of Engineers Celebrates 30 Years of Rend Lake Cleanup

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your friends, family, and/or organized group to join us as we celebrate our 30th year of hosting the Rend Lake Cleanup. Our slogan for the day is “Get Dirty and Celebrate 30!” Not only will we be celebrating the 30th year for this event, we will also be celebrating being involved in one of the nation’s largest days of public volunteerism. The Rend Lake Cleanup will be in good company, as over 2,000 locations across the nation will also be taking part in some type of National Public Lands Day Celebrations on this day.

National Public Lands Day is celebrated each year by five federal land management agencies, who have partnered to provide a special thank-you to volunteers. Each volunteer who participates in a National Public Lands Day 2016 event at a site managed by any of these federal agencies; Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or USDA Forest Service, will receive a fee-free coupon. Each fee-free coupon is good for one day of entrance fees or day use fees. The fee –free pass expires Sunday, September 24, 2017. At some public lands, these pass benefits include accompanying passengers in a car. The coupons cannot be used for parking, camping, tours or concessions.

We invite you to gather a group or come alone for a fun day of litter pickup at Rend Lake. Pre-registration is recommended, but not required. Pre-registration information can be obtained by calling the Rend Lake Project Office & Visitor Center at 618-724-2493 or emailing [email protected].
