On Tuesday, May 28th of 2024, Norman Mier of the Fairfield area was arrested by Carmi Police on a Wayne County warrant while picking up more than a half dozen local charges. Last Wednesday, June 4th, Mier was sentenced to 3 years behind bars according to White County States Attorney Chris Neal. The sentence is a result of a plea deal in which the state agreed to dismiss the rest of the White County charges in return for a guilty plea to the Possession of Meth charge. That 3 year sentence will run concurrent with the Wayne County case. In addition to the prison stay, Mier will also be on 6 years mandatory supervised release following his incarceration and owe court costs. He has been credited with 2 days served.
