Busy Meeting for Grayville City Council

Grayville Council Met Monday

It was a very busy meeting for the Grayville City Council Monday night with a number of major actions following a closed door session

The council approved an 8-year contract with Chief of Police Hatcher.  City workers will now be allowed to take their trucks home, but the city will be purchasing Apple Air Tags to keep track of the vehicles. City employees will also be required to use the time clock at the Municipal Building.

There was no action on the Utopian Power Solar Project agreement and no action on a Tiff request concerning Lynn Winters. The board approved an amendment to the video gaming ordinance reducing fees for fraternal and veteran’s organizations, both not for profit groups.

The first reading for amending the traffic code for a speed limit reduction on North First street was held. The board took no action on the Snyder Property lease agreement, the sale of excess property or a request to vacate a portion of Mulberry Street.

$25,000 in TIFF funds was approved for the Grayville School District. That money will help cover the cost of the school’s parking lot project.

The Lions Club was given permission to seek donations on the annual Candy Day, set for Oct 14.

The council approved the purchase of a carport building for the sewer lagoon at a cost of a little over $6200. A trailer to haul mowers was also approved at a cost of $2200.

In other action, the council approved a $25,000 revolving loan to Irvine’s Meat and Deli along with approval of a equipment and real estate lease for Irvine’s located at 133 North Industrial Park Drive.
