Burns denied change of venues in Saline County Court Tuesday

burns-brianA Harrisburg doctor accused of killing his estranged wife and then burning her body to hide her remains was denied a change in venue on Tuesday.

The Southern Illinoisan reports that Judge Walden Morris denied the motion by defense attorney Bryan Drew, saying it was too early to make a move, and that Drew should ascertain prejudice during juror interviews.  Drew had argued that media coverage about the upcoming trial tainted the local jury pool.

Dr. Brian Burns was arrested in March on first degree murder charges in relation to the death of Carla Burns.  Burns is also accused of soliciting an undercover police officer to kidnap Saline County States Attorney Mike Henshaw.  Burns remains in custody in Saline County on a $1 million bond.
