Bailey Says He’s Considering a Run for Governor; and More from Wednesday Town Hall

It was a billed as a town hall event, but it took about 26 minutes before any discussion took place Wednesday when Illinois Senator Darren Bailey descended upon Deep South, a popular restaurant in McLeansboro which isn’t even in Bailey’s district.  Despite the fact, Bailey has been a vocal supporter and according to restaurant owner Adam Little has checked in with him weekly since the Liquor Commission tried to fine him for opening his restaurant during the pandemic.

 

 

The freshly sworn in senator opened his time by addressing the nearly 40 folks who turned out telling them they should prepare to start hearing a new term over the next couple years…

Additionally, Bailey railed against the police reform bill and said legislators need to come visit communities in southern Illinois and local businesses to see what the impact would be in regards to legislation he says they propose.  Bailey did spend about 30 minutes fielding questions from the crowd which included locals from McLeansboro and Hamilton County, but also a conservative contingency from the Carmi area including the Rowe’s and the Beck’s, second amendment activists and Farm Bureau members, respectively.

 

 

Bailey wouldn’t commit to saying he’s planning a run for Governor in 2 years.  It’s obvious he’s considering it, but when asked he says…
