Judy Kay Pumphrey, 82, of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on Sunday, March 12, 1944, In Frederick, Oklahoma, the daughter of Raymond and Lena (Loftis) Bryan. Judy married James Robert Pumphrey on June 21, 2020, in Carmi. She attended Concord United Methodist Church. Judy was a collector and also enjoyed working in and caring for her flower gardens.

Robert Lee Brown, 89, passed away May 13, 2026 at his home at Wesley Commons Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greenwood, South Carolina.                      

Christopher Dean Moore, 60, of Carmi, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on Saturday. June 18, 1966, in Eldorado, Illinois a son of Ralph and Leona (Gordon) Moore.

Paula Jean Mitchell, 73, of McLeansboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Fox Meadows Supportive Living in McLeansboro with family by her side.

Fern L. Daily (Byrd), passed away on October 4, 2026, at her residence. She was born on August 19, 1939, in Peoria, Illinois, and lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, friendship, and generous care for others.

Estella Joan Stone, 91, of McLeansboro passed away at Color Point in McLeansboro on October 6, 2026. She was born on March 3, 1935 in Springerton to John Willard and Sarah Irene (Upton) Stone. Joan was a member of the RLDS in Springerton. She had worked for Trade Industries in McLeansboro.

Mary Lou (Hebert) Smith, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, She was born the sixth of eight children to Phillip and Flossie (Edwards) Hebert on Sunday, July 7, 1929, in Assumption, Illinois. Mary Lou married Gene Smith on June 10, 1949. They had two children, Greg "Smitty" and Stella.

Brenda Jo McFarland of Grayville, formerly of New Harmony, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. She was born on Sunday, July 12, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Al and Emma (Pfender) Josey. Brenda married Michael David McFarland on September 6, 1980. She worked in retail and was later a rural mail carrier. Brenda was a member of Johnson United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, horses and being with her pets.

Marilyn Sue Hawkins, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, at the age of 86.

   Robert Glenn Hines, 71, of Carmi, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Born in Carmi on December 9, 1954, he was the son of Grover Glenn and Gwendolen Eva (Greenacre) Hines. Robert graduated as valedictorian of Carmi High School in 1972. On August 6, 2011, he married Avis (Cook) Hines, with whom he shared more than 15 years of marriage. He was a member of Carmi Emmanuel Church. Robert’s passion was owning Hines Trucking for 46 years starting in 1980. Robert deeply valued the relationships he built with his customers and employees. He enjoyed auto racing, watching NASCAR, coaching Carmi middle school basketball, and attending his grandchildren’s events. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
