White County Board agrees to support new Enterprise Zone application

The White County Board met for its May meeting on Tuesday night at the White County Courthouse. Sandra Irvine was present to inform the Board about the new application for the Carmi-White County Enterprise Zone.  New requirements by the State of Illinois are forcing the reapplication for the program, and Irvine said that the cities of Albion, Grayville, and Carmi have agreed to fund the reapplication process.  The Board agreed to support the re-application by unanimous vote.

The Board also accepted the resignation of Terry McCormick as Director of the White County Ambulance Service and as a member of the 911 Board due to health reasons.  By unanimous vote, the Board also raised the salary of interim Ambulance Service Director Adam Alan from $500 to $800 a month. The Board held an executive session, and agreed to advertise for a new Ambulance Service Director.

Several items were tabled until future meetings, including a hiring freeze due to its questionable legality.

The Board will meet next on Monday, June 13 at 9:00am.
