Carmi Police arrested 36-year-old Evansville resident Cassidy James on Saturday for a White County warrant. The warrant was issued for a charge back in 2022 for Retail Theft, with the warrant filed in June of this year due to violations of her probation.
James is facing a Petition to Revoke Probation, Violation of Probation for failure to Pay Fines, Failure to Complete Drug Treatment, Failure to Complete COmmunity Service, and Failure to Report to Probation. Not only that, but James is facing new charges in Vanderburgh County. An Arraignment was set for October 20 at 9:30 am.

Later on Saturday, Carmi Police responded to a call to a residence on Cherry Street in Carmi. Once officers arrived on scene, they started their investigation with Patrick Hoscheid, who was later arrested for Domestic Battery and Aggravated Battery due to the victim’s age being 60 or older.
Police took Hoscheid to the White County Jail, where he will be held until he can see a judge.

In the early hours on Sunday, a male was arrested by the Carmi Police. 38-year-old Phillip Burton was placed under arrest for Domestic Battery and Trespass. Burton went before a judge on Monday morning, where he was denied pre-trial release, and a Preliminary Hearing was set for October 6 at 10:00 a.m.

The domestic calls didn’t end with Burton, unfortunately. Another call came into the Carmi Police on Sunday morning around 10 am; this time, officers were dispatched to a home on Fackney Street.
Officers arrived and separated the parties, with an investigation beginning with 27-year-old Shane Workman.
Workman was arrested and taken to the White County Jail for Domestic Battery and Aggravated Battery. Workman was denied a pre-trial release in front of a judge on Monday morning, due to previous charges of Battery.
The first run-in with Workman came in May 2025, when he was charged with Domestic Battery and Criminal Damage to Property. He pled guilty, the Domestic Battery charge was dismissed due to the plea deal, and Workman was given two years of Conditional Discharge, Mental Health Assessment, and Counseling. Just a few months later, in August, Workman was arrested for two counts of Domestic Battery and one count of Criminal Damage to Property. An Arraignment in that case has been set for October 1 at 9:30 am; he was then released after 72 hours behind bars.
