An Evansville woman will serve prison time after being convicted of drug dealing charges in Posey County.
On the afternoon of August 5, 2026, Misty Dawn Cunningham, age 46, appeared in the Posey Circuit Court where she was sentenced by Judge Craig Goedde to twenty (20) years after pleading guilty to Dealing in Methamphetamine, a Level 2 Felony.
As part of her guilty plea, Cunningham admitted to possessing more than ten (10) grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute the illegal drugs.
According to the terms of the Sentencing Recommendation, Cunningham will serve twelve (12) years in prison, followed by five (5) years on community corrections and then three (3) years on probation with substance abuse treatment as a special condition of her supervision.
Court records show that Mt. Vernon Police Department Officer Chevvy Wood performed a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding during the afternoon hours of October 8, 2025.
Cunningham was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
During the course of the traffic stop, officers confirmed that Cunningham’s driver’s license was suspended. Officers then conducted an inventory of the contents of Cunningham’s vehicle prior to towing the vehicle from the roadway. During the inventory, a plastic bag was located between the driver’s seat and the center console that contained multiple baggies containing a white crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed more than 10 grams. Cunningham confirmed to the officers that the substance was methamphetamine.
Cunningham was transported to the Posey County Jail, where she has remained held on bond since the date of her arrest.

I appreciate the work of the Mt. Vernon Police Department in helping bring this case to a successful conclusion.”
Cunningham will be transported to the Indiana Department of Correction to serve her sentence.
