Weekend Accidents Send Two to Hospitals

28 year old Lindsey N. Heffington of New Haven is recovering after an early morning Sunday crash just south of County Road 900 North in White County.  Illinois State Police say they’re still investigating what caused the accident.  According to their preliminary report, Heffington is believed to have been driving a 2015 Dodge Ram southbound on Epworth Road when the truck crossed over the oncoming lane and into the opposite ditch and subsequently rolling multiple times.  An unidentified passenger is also indicated in the report.  Heffington was transported to an area hospital via ambulance.  Rick’s Towing of Grayville towed the truck.  White County Ambulance and Carmi PD authorities also assisted at the scene.  Charges are pending.

Weather is being blamed for a Friday afternoon crash that sent an Eldorado woman to the hospital.  Around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, 63 year old Nancy Racine of Eldorado was driving a 2000 Mazda pickup northbound on US 45 near the intersection at White County 125 East.  The report indicates strong rain and intense winds further affected the vehicle when Racine began to hydroplane, losing control and eventually striking a ditch embankment and numerous trees.  She was taken to Ferrell Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  Jones Towing of Omaha towed Racine’s truck.  The White County Ambulance Service and Sheriff’s Department also assisted.  No charges are expected.
