While waiting at the White County Jail on a separate charge, the White County Sheriff’s Department served Carmi resident Melvin Lewis with two additional warrants on Friday.
One warrant was issued for the Aggravated Battery charge, which happened in January. The other was Criminal Damage to Property and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Damage from December 2024.
On Sunday, a White County Sheriff’s Deputy was out on patrol and noticed Nicholas Page in the yard of a residence. The deputy knew Page had a White County warrant for Failure to Appear for Theft and Deception.
Unfortunately, once the deputy contacted Page, he began to run away and then decided to stop with no further incident.
Page was taken to the White County Jail, appeared in court on Monday morning, and was let go. He will have a Preliminary Hearing on May 28th at 10 am.
Since the incident of the charge of Theft and Deception, Page has been arrested three other times.
In January, he was arrested on another White County warrant and placed under supervision for being unlicensed.
Then, Page was arrested again for several charges after he claimed he was trying to change a song on his radio and ran a stop sign. In February, he was charged with being Unlicensed, possessing a Controlled Substance, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, Failing to Stop at an Intersection, Failing to Reduce Speed, and using an Electronic Device.
