Meth Busts
Two Carmi men were arrested early Friday morning on separate drug raids conducted by the Carmi Police Department with assistance from the White County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the incident reports released by Carmi Chief of Police Jason Carter, 67 year old David W. Strean of 805 Smith Street, Carmi, was arrested for unlawful use of property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (psilocybin mushrooms) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the report, Carmi police developed information leading to the execution of a search warrant.
Strean was detained by authorities and remained in custody early Monday.
Local police also executed a search warrant at 709 Maple Street, here in Carmi after an investigation led to information concerning drugs at the residence.
Shortly after 7, Friday morning, Jerry Wayne Lamont, 51, of 709 Maple was arrested on several drug related charges including possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of property. Obstructing justice and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
Lamont remained in custody early Monday at the White County Jail.

December 4, 2023 at 4:48 pmAfter that many times being arrested rehabilitation is not the answer. They go away for a few months or couple of years and then right back at it. It can be blamed on a corrupt judicial system and faulty penal system but the answer is plain: burn those bridges and stay away from the people that you used to do dope with. Period. Make a solid choice to NOT do dope and that’s that. It’s the same with anyone saying “addiction” is why they do it. It’s a choice you make on a daily basis to use or not to use and to blame your past, parents or any circumstances on using dope. Just STOP.

December 5, 2023 at 9:06 pmDeez Nutz you said a few months or a couple of years is trash because if i remember correctly Jerry has done about fourteen years and I’m not sure what strain has but i guarantee it’s more than a couple of years or months, and I’m going to ask you this,why is it illegal? They can put a stop to if they wanted to but it’s a business and if it wasn’t for the drug addicts they couldn’t run the jail. People who get busted for drugs usually do more time than a child molester or in some cases rape and murder. Drug addicts are treated as a lower level of society and are shunned and it’s actually been proven that some can actually function and can contribute to society. Education and rehabilitation is the only way. My nephew was busted twice for meth and it wasn’t a large amount and he was given 20 years and he did Half of it and was released in 2020 . His IQ is genius level but he had grown up in a house hold with parents who were heavy drug addicts , it’s all he knew but he’s clean now but he did get drug counseling with his request while he was incarnated …It’s a business all the way down to the jails. And most people have to pay out of pocket for rehab and some who can’t only get to stay a short time maybe a week at the most and the authorities will not pay for rehab but they won’t hesitate to give them prison sentences, drug addicts are treated terrible in the system and they are people’s sons and daughter’s and you’d be surprised if you really knew how and who was really behind the drugs and if you did know how it really works you might be little bit more understanding unless you’re complete arse .

I am more understanding than you probably realize due to the fact that I was in this same situation countless times. I’d go to jail, serve my time and then right back to doing the same thing. I did that behavior for over 25 years! I am very understanding when it comes to people that actually want to help themselves and get out of that lifestyle choice. Unless they WANT help and WANT change it’s just a revolving door. Remember : PRISONS, INSTITUTIONS and DEATH. I’m not one for calling names on here and refuse to do so. I am just stating facts about the people I know and have known for years that CHOOSE to do the revolving door option instead of choosing to make that change it takes to stop. It is possible,it is achievable. You just have to want it bad enough to do it. I could go on and on about sitting around those NA and AA tables for most of my life and hearing the stories of those that had one to tell but, those of us that made the CONSCIOUS DECISION to make that change have never looked back. I pray that those that sit around doing drugs and destroying lives make the same decision before it’s too late.

December 6, 2023 at 5:10 amAddiction is a disease! 90percent of people that have some kind of addiction suffers from a mental illness. Whether the addiction be alcohol, food, tobacco, drugs, s** shopping and etc. A lot of people don’t even realize that they have an underlying mental illness when they’re in addiction. Alcohol being the number 1 worst addiction I believe but just my opinion because it’s legal! Unlike the drugs Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Acid, Shrooms, and Heroin. So I completely agree with Christina’s comment these people need help from intense therapy, counseling, physicians and a good support group. Not saying I feel sorry for these men bc you do reap what you sow but I really do hope they get the help they need. Speaking from a recovering addict, who suffers from bi polar, ADHD and BPD.

December 4, 2023 at 9:06 pmWhat’s sad about white county is that someone that is a theif and a horrible person in society like the Dunns and a few others I could name that deserve to be in prison forever can continue to stay out by putting people away that don’t harm anyone but theirselfs like lamont. You can tell he does drugs but he don’t steal from people or harm people. He’s a good guy actually and I see it more and more. It’s putting people that aren’t so bad away for others getting caught It’s wrong on so many levels!!

More needs to be done to help. Intense therapy and physicians are needed to help. It cannot work until physians treat their patients respectively. And help them.

With that being said no one is responsible for the situation these 2 men are in but themselves David Strean is laying in the jail bed that he has made for himself after decades and decades of the lifestyle he chose to live he is reaping what he has sowed same goes for Lamont. One way or another what goes around comes around. God carries out his vengeance for his children upon the people who prey upon them. So your telling me that some blow Joe gets arrested bc they are causing mayhem on others so they just throw a name of somebody that they don’t like and so they get off and the somebody who keeps to theirself gets their door kicked in. Im not saying that doing drugs is good for anybody, bit what I am saying is that addiction is an epidemic and it consumes more then you realize. But my house got broken into by someone on dope while I was asleep and that person told on somebody else and done zero time.
