SNAP Benefits Funded Through February; Money Coming Early

The Illinois Department of Human Services announced that February Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps) benefits will be funded through February, but they will be issued to Illinois clients on or before January 20. Typically benefits are issued in the first few days of the month.

IDHS secretary James Dimas aid, “we want to reassure our customers that SNAP benefits are funded through the end of February. However, we need to spread the word as quickly and widely as possible that these benefits will be issued earlier than usual.”

SNAP is a federal program administered by the US Dept of Agriculture and distributed through IDHS in Illinois.

SNAP customers will receive the normal amount of monthly SNAP benefits on their LINK cars, the debit like cards used to spend SNAP benefits and other cash assistance.
