Memorial Day Safety
This weekend, the Memorial Day holiday, unofficially kicks off the summer season and barbecue’s, family gathering and other celebrations will be common place throughout the weekend.
White County Sheriff Doug Maier reminded local residents to keep safety in mind, not only this holiday weekend, but throughout the year. He explained his department, like other agencies, including Illinois State Police will be out in force this weekend; reminding motorists not to drink and drive.
Authorities will be concentrating on the fatal four offenses; speeding, driving under the influence, driving distracted and failure to wear seatbelts.
