Saline County Sheriff: Two Norris City teens injured in Friday morning accident

Two people were hurt in a late morning crash on US 45 North near the Saline-Gallatin County line. Saline County Central Dispatch received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting the accident at 10:18 a.m. Friday.dscn03595b15d

Saline County Deputies, Med-Force EMS and Eldorado Fire Department were initially dispatched to the scene where a 17 year of age female, of Norris City, Illinois was extricated from a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, and was flown from the scene by St. Mary’s Lifeflight and taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, with serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Ashley T. Frost, 19 of Norris City was transported by Med-Force EMS to Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, with minor injuries.

A preliminary report of the accident states that: Frost was southbound on US 45, when she ran off the roadway, overcorrected and left the roadway on the west side of the road, before striking a tree. The accident is still under investigation.

Assisting with the accident: Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Gallatin County EMS, Illinois Department of Transportation, Jones Towing and the Eldorado Police Department. US 45 North was closed for about an hour as responders worked the crash scene.
