Egyptian Health Department was notified on August 24, 2020, of two Southeastern Illinois residents who have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The individuals include:
To date, Saline County has had a total of 155 lab confirmed positives, including 3 deaths, White County has had a total of 113 lab-confirmed positives, and Gallatin County has a total of 61 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including 2 deaths. The Illinois Department of Public Health, their healthcare provider, and the individuals have all been notified and are monitoring the situation.
As cases increase, the number of close contacts increases for individuals who need to be quarantined for a minimum of 14 days. Please maintain physical distancing of 6 feet or more at all times.
If you have been tested for COVID-19, please remember that you have to isolate at home until you have received your test results. Please note: If you have received results for a COVID-19 Rapid Test– 𝙋𝙊𝙎𝙄𝙏𝙄𝙑𝙀 or 𝙉𝙀𝙂𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙑𝙀– you should still 𝙄𝙎𝙊𝙇𝘼𝙏𝙀 until you receive your lab-confirmed results. Hamilton County Health Department continues to investigate each case ensuring the isolation of the positive patient. In addition, Hamilton County Health Department places close contacts that have had exposure to the positive patient on quarantine for a minimum of 14 days. This would allow symptoms to develop and pass without posing risk to others. If you are contacted by public health officials, please respond promptly.

As a precaution, if an individual has been tested for COVID-19, it’s advised they self-quarantine until their test results are received. If the test result is positive, that person will then be contacted by the Hamilton County Health Department.
