One Saline, One White, and Three Hamilton County Residents Latest CoViD Positive Reports Monday 8/24/20

Egyptian Health Department was notified on August 24, 2020, of two Southeastern Illinois residents who have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The individuals include:

  • Saline County
    • a female, in her 60’s, at home and in isolation
  • White County
    • a female, in her 20’s, at home and in isolation

To date, Saline County has had a total of 155 lab confirmed positives, including 3 deaths, White County has had a total of 113 lab-confirmed positives, and Gallatin County has a total of 61 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including 2 deaths. The Illinois Department of Public Health, their healthcare provider, and the individuals have all been notified and are monitoring the situation.

As cases increase, the number of close contacts increases for individuals who need to be quarantined for a minimum of 14 days. Please maintain physical distancing of 6 feet or more at all times.

If you have been tested for COVID-19, please remember that you have to isolate at home until you have received your test results. Please note: If you have received results for a COVID-19 Rapid Test– ???????????????????????????????? or ????????????????????????????????– you should still ???????????????????????????? until you receive your lab-confirmed results.  Help stop the spread of COVID-19 in your community.

IDPH announced that Illinois had 1,612 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 8 additional deaths. Bringing the total to 221,790 confirmed cases and 7,888 deaths in Illinois.

In addition…

Hamilton County Health Department has been notified of three additional positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Hamilton County residents:

Female in her 40’s
Male in his 50’s
Male in his 70’s

To date:

  • There have been  47 lab-confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Hamilton County.
  • One person who was a positive lab-confirmed case passed away.
  • 39 people have recovered.
  • 7 people are currently isolating at home.

Hamilton County Health Department continues to investigate each case ensuring the isolation of the positive patient.  In addition, Hamilton County Health Department places close contacts that have had exposure to the positive patient on quarantine for a minimum of 14 days.  This would allow symptoms to develop and pass without posing risk to others.  If you are contacted by public health officials, please respond promptly.

Close contacts may include individuals:

  • Living in the same household as a sick person with COVID-19
  • Caring for a sick person with COVID-19
  • Being within six feet of a sick person with COVID-19 for about 15 minutes, OR
  • Being in direct contact with secretions from a sick person with COVID-19 (e.g., being coughed on, kissing, sharing utensils, etc.)

As a precaution, if an individual has been tested for COVID-19, it’s advised they self-quarantine until their test results are received. If the test result is positive, that person will then be contacted by the Hamilton County Health Department.
