A Norris City woman was hospitalized and charged with DUI Tuesday night after she ran off the road and struck a tree.
According to the preliminary crash report from Illinois State Police District 19, at 10:24 pm 35 year old Melissa M. Russell was east bound on Spence Street when she lost control of her vehicle and left the roadway. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Russell was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. She has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, DUI, failure to wear a seatbelt, and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
District 19 troopers were assisted at the scene by the White County Sheriff’s Department, Norris City Police Department, Med Force Ambulance service, and S&E Automotive, who towed the vehicle from the scene.
