Norris City Athletic Association to answer Board questions at May meeting

The members of the Norris City Athletic Association will be at the next village board meeting in May to discuss their operating procedures and financial situation. The NCAA will hold a meeting in a couple of weeks to swear in new board members and will also have a new treasurer and secretary.

The Village office’s security will be beefed up with the installation of a steel door with security locks for the board room and one where the swinging door is currently located. Also, if you come in at the front lobby, you will have to be buzzed in. Dauby Construction will do the work at a cost of $1,776.

The Illinois Department of Transportation denied a request to close U.S. 45 for the Crossroads Church’s Freedom Rock event next month.

An electrician will be hired to make wiring improvements at the Scout Hall.

The Interstate Commerce Commission will be in for inspections April 5th to the 8th.

The village wide rummage sale will be held the weekend of May 6th and 7th and clean-up week will be May 9th through the 13th.

Since there have been some high winds recently, there are a lot of tree limbs around. The Village will pick up any under three inches and they should be placed at the side of the street. And you must call the office to be put on their list.

They approved their usual $500 contribution to the drug and alcohol free senior party.

The Village attorney sent out six letters to residents for delinquent accounts. One paid in full and another made a promise to pay. The other four did not respond and liens will be placed against them.

Off-road vehicle registration is due at the end of April. Its $36 per year for a sticker that is good from may 1st to April 30th. You must call the police department for stickers.

In the police report for March, there were ten reports written, two arrests made, three citations issued and 14 9-1-1 calls were received. Also, officers participated in “active shooter” training at NCO grade school with the white county sheriff and deputies

In the animal control report, two vicious dogs were put down and three others were picked up.

There is a sewer problem on West Main Street as several mail boxes are sinking. Work will begin next week.

The next Village Board meeting is Monday, May 2nd at 7 p.m.
