State Farm is going to be awarding $25,000 grants to 40 non profit organizations across Illinois to help fund neighborhood improvement projects. In 2013, Wabash County Project Success in Mt. Carmel was awarded one of these grants. Beginning June 2nd, individuals can submit a cause at http://www.neighborhoodassist.com and will end when 2,000 submissions are reached. You can go to the website now and download the submission guide. State Farm’s Review Committee will then narrow the field to the Top 200 before voting opens August 18th – 27th. Ultimately, voters will end up deciding which community improvement projects win. The public will be able to vote 10 times a day, every day for 10 days. The top 40 causes as determined by voting will then each be awarded a $25,000 grant. Since the program began 9 years ago, more than 340 causes have received $9 million to help make positive impacts in their communities according to officials. Last year, more than 3.9 million votes were cast in support of favorite causes.
