NCOE Board of Education holds November meeting

The NCOE School Board met November 15 for their regular meeting. The minutes and bills were approved as presented.

The administrators were happy to report that technology advancements have been underway for the NCO grade school. Every classroom now has access to chromebooks or tablets for their students. The administration wanted to thank the NCO PTO for their generous donation in helping make this happen as well as teachers who have worked to receive donations. Booth also has upgraded internet service in place to help with their online curriculum and assessments.

The principals introduced new teachers this school year as Trent Mason, NCO Language Arts; Dustin Murray, NCO Social Studies; and Chad Garrett, NCOE Special Education and Pep Club sponsor.

During the Treasurer’s report, Superintendent Vollman let the Board know that District has been receiving general state aide as scheduled. Also transportation and special ed. money from last year has been distributed to the District.

During the principal reports, Mr. Foster congratulated Mr. Mason and Mrs. Gray for receiving the Retired Teacher Grant. Also he said the PTO hosted an ice cream bar for the entire NCO student body last Friday. The school has been collecting can goods this week for the help a neighbor program.

Mr. Haley reported that finals will be December 19 and 20 at NCOE. Also the winter concert will be December 8 with chili being served. He congratulated the high school volleyball team and coaches for a successful year and stated basketball season begins next week. Scholar bowl has begun at the high school.

Booth has also collected 1500 can goods to be donated to the Enfield Food Pantry. Mrs. Carter said the PTO family reading night was well attended and a good time for all. Also many local businesses came out for the school’s Halloween parade to hand out treats to the kids. She announced December 16 at 6:00 p.m. would be Booth’s Christmas Program.

The Board employed Angela Phillips, bus driver; Tim Phillips, sub bus driver; and Charla Lewis, personal aide at NCOE.

In other business-

-Accepted renewal of insurance policies.

-Accepted intent to levy taxes next month.

-Accepted the resignation of Amanda Courson.

-Accepted FMLA request for Kayla DeStefano.
