The following individuals were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On 08/18/2017, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant on Mark J. Newlin, age 26, of Allendale. Newlin was wanted on one count of sexual exploitation of a child. An investigation in May of 2017 was initiated by the Mt. Carmel Police. Mt. Carmel Police received a complaint that Newlin was having inappropriate conversations with a minor. Newlin was served the Wabash County warrant and released after posting $1000.00 cash.
08/18/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 62 year old Patricia J. Corder of Lawrencville after the vehicle she was a passenger in was stopped by the Mt. Carmel Police. During the traffic stop it was discovered that she was wanted on a Wabash County warrant charging her with deceptive practice. Corder was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was held pending the posting of $300.00 cash.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 53 year old James G. Jones of Mt. Carmel after he was stopped by Mt. Carmel Police. During the traffic stop it was suspected that Jones was operating a 2002 Jeep while DUI. Jones was arrested and chargd with DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, and illegal transportation of alcohol. Jones was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of bond.
08/19/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 3 individuals after they were called to Comeaux’s reference a physical altercation outside of the bar. Police arrested 24 year old Ashlie E. Sharp, 31 year old Charlie L. Bray, and 26 year old Samantha K. VanMatre all from Mt. Carmel. All three were transported to the Wabash County Jail and charged with battery. The three were held pending the posting of bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 22 year old Dakoda B. Grimes of Mt. Carmel after police observed him standing in the 900 block of Mulberry Street. The arresting officer knew Grimes was wanted on a felony failure to appear warrant out of Wabash County. Grimes was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.
08/20/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 25 year old Jacob S. Wilkinson of Mt. Carmel after he was observed standing in a parking lot located in the 1400 block of W. 3rd Street. The arresting officer knew Wilkinson was wanted on a failure to appear warrant out of White County. Wilkinson was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of $575.00.
