The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
05/11/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 45 year old Gary G. Prater of Mt. Carmel for driving on a suspended driver’s license. Prater was arrested in the area of 4th and Chestnut Street in Mt. Carmel. Prater was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.
05/13/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 35 year old Leiston B. Keepes of Eddyville, Illinois after police responded to a disturbance call. Police were told by the victim that he was walking down the railroad tracks near his home when Keepes confronted him and punched him in the face causing him to black out. The victim stated that Keepes posted on his Facebook page that he just knocked someone out. Police were able to located Keepes at a local motel. Keepes provided a false name to the officers but the officers already had his photo from Facebook. Keepes was arrested for battery and obstruction of identification. Keepes was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of bond.
05/14/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 24 year old Dakota L. Thompson of Olney, Illinois after police were called to a fight in progress at 1149 W. 3rd Street in Mt. Carmel. Thompson was a witness to the alleged fight and when police ran his name through dispatch they discovered he was wanted on a fraud warrant out of Knox County, Indiana. Thompson was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was served the warrant and held pending the posting of bond.
05/15/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 26 year old Ashleigh N. Folsom of Allendale. Folsom was arrested after she was stopped for a traffic stop. During the stop it was discovered that Folsom was driving without insurance and driving on a revoked driver’s license. Folsom was cited for the two infractions and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was held pending the posting of bond.
Mt. Carmel Police responded to a burglary in progress at 925 N. Market Street in Mt. Carmel. MCPD Officer’s and K9-Ace arrived on scene and secured the outside of the building. Police were in the process of deploying the K-9 when a male subject busted through the front glass window of the building causing it to break. The suspect then came at one of the responding officer’s with a knife. The officer was able to shoot the suspect with his taser causing the suspect to fall to the ground. The suspect was identified as 41 year old Jerry L. Osmon of West Salem. Osmon was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass to real property, criminal damage to property, resisting a peace officer, aggravated assault, burglary, and possession of burglary tools. Osmon is being held in the Wabash County Jail pending a bond hearing.
