The McLeansboro City Council held its regular monthly meeting last night via telephone due to COVID-19 mitigations.
About half of the items on their agenda were tabled until next month’s meeting for various reasons, but the Council members still had a good amount of business to conduct.
They approved the January pay request for the Water Tower Project. Not a lot of work was done due to the cold and the contractor didn’t submit any invoices in December. The agreement is for $18,989.40 to Shawnee Professional Services with $11,000 of that going to Mid-South Tank Consultants for their critical-phase inspection. Mid-South was pleased with the work done so far.
It was agreed to purchase the trailer located at 611 North Hancock from the County Trustee for $900. They will then pay Kyle Poore $2,500 to tear it down and remove it.
The renewal of airport insurance from Star Aviation was approved. It’s for three years at a cost of $2,141.
The council adopted the resolution of the Hamilton County Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan. Towns can receive federal grant money in case of a disaster, either natural or man-made.
A TIF payment of $233.05 to Will and Beth Sandusky was approved.
Several items were tabled until next month’s meeting:
Accepting the property to be donated by Bird Dog Properties until they can get a written agreement from IDOT to commit to the viaduct project after the city has accepted ownership of the property.
Making the sidewalk south of Greg James Memorial Park on the north side of Market Street ADA compliant, as there is nothing to approve as of now.
What to do with the land where the current water tower sits at 719 West Main Street.
A COVID-19 liability waiver as they need more information.
A contract on waste collection. The city has received bids from Republic, who has the current contract and Bulldog Systems. The council members will look over the bids and make a decision at next month’s meeting, as the current contract doesn’t expire until March 31st.
Creating a policy to assist turning on locked out utilities temporarily to assist in the sale of the property for home inspections. One will be drawn up and approved next month.
The council went into executive session at 6:59 PM to discuss possible termination/discipline of a specific individual.
