The Martin Blackledge Trust, a private foundation based in Carmi, approved grants to a number of local charities at its May, 2016 semi-annual meeting. Payments were made to the White County and Grayville Senior Citizens Centers, Cherry Street Church and White County Senior Center Food Pantries, Grayville Ministerial Alliance Food Voucher Program, The Guardian Center, and the White County Salvation Army. Matching donations were made to the Blackledge-Lions Scholarship Fund, based on amounts donated by the Carmi and Grayville Lions Clubs. Donations to White County churches made in January 2016 were confirmed, and grant agreements were offered to the Carmi Masonic Lodge and Norris City Eastern Star Chapter.

The trust continues the charitable activities begun during the life of E. Martin Blackledge, a native of Centerville. German American Trust Services acts as custodian for the account. For more information contact Trust Officer Patti Evans at 812-962-2265.

Representing all recipients, receiving a payment from trust Advisory Committee Member Cindy Birk Conley, is Sheryl Woodham, Executive Director of the Guardian Center.
