Local Sports Recap – September 15, 2023

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team defeated Hamilton County in 2 sets last night, 25-15, 25-15. The Lady Bulldogs improve to 14-1 on the year and 3-0 in the Black Diamond Conference. Carmi will travel to Christopher on Monday.

The Carmi-White County Boys and Girls Golf teams traveled to Hamilton County yesterday, the girls came away victorious 195-199, but the boys fell 157-169.

For the girls,
Ava Shiever shot a 43.
Courtney Snow shot a 49.
Maeve Atteberry shot a 51.
Kinley Carter shot a 52.
Sadie Balding shot a 54.

For the boys,
Aidan Willis shot a 39.
Gabe Winkleman shot a 42.
Cayden Holloman shot a 43.
Myles Barnett and Jax Jordan both shot a 45.
Maxon O’Daniel shot a 46.
Connor Newell and Abe Girten shot a 47.
Jordan Tomassetti and Reece Whitley both shot a 52.

Both golf teams will take part in the Salem invitational tomorrow.

The CWC Girls Tennis team defeated Salem at home yesterday 9-0. JV also won yesterday 10-1 over Salem. The Lady Bulldogs are now 3-3 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Fairfield on Tuesday.

The Carmi-White County Cross Country ran at the NCOE Invitational yesterday afternoon,

For the girls,
Gabbie Connover finished in 2nd Place with a time of 23:45.
Ally pollard finished in 3rd Place with a time of 22:58.

For the boys, they finished in 1st Place as a team.
Lane Connaway finished 2nd with a time of 17:53.
Andrew Benham finished 3rd with a time of 18:15.
Trey Dixon finished 6th with a time of 20:19.
Luke Bolerjack finished 7th with a time of 20:31.
Ian Mosier finished 29th with a time of 23:42.

Tonight the Carmi-White County Bulldogs will battle the Sesser-Valier Red Devils at Harrington-Jeffries Sports Complex. Both teams are 3-0 and tied for first place in the Black Diamond Conference. Sesser is coming off a 22-12 win over Fairfield, meanwhile Carmi had a bye week last week. Fans who can’t attend can watch and listen to tonight’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel.
