The Carmi-White County Baseball team fell to Hamilton County yesterday afternoon at home by a final score of 10-8.
The Bulldogs fell behind early, and they found themselves down 8-0 heading into the bottom of the 4th inning. Carmi didn’t fold, the Bulldogs scored 7 runs in the 4th inning to cut the Foxes lead to 8-7. Hamilton County answered with 2 runs in the 5th inning to extend their lead to 10-7. The Bulldogs plated one in the 7th, but their comeback effort would come up short.
The Bulldogs fall to 10-12-1 on the season. They are scheduled to host Fairfield today to resume a game that was rained out earlier this month. The game will resume in the bottom of the 1st inning with the Bulldogs leading 3-0.
The Bulldogs will begin postseason play on Monday as they host Hamilton County in the quarterfinal round of the IHSA 2A Regional. If the Bulldogs win, they will advance to the semifinals in Fairfield to face Harrisburg on Wednesday.
The Carmi-White County Softball team fell to Hamilton County yesterday afternoon by a final score of 4-2. The Lady Bulldogs’ 2 runs came on a 2-run home run by freshman Maggie Pearce, her first home run of her career.
The Lady Bulldogs fall to 11-13 on the season. They will have a rematch with the Lady Foxes this afternoon at Archie Brown Field.
With severe weather in the forecast for this afternoon, both baseball and softball games are likely to be canceled.
The Lady Bulldogs will begin postseason play on Tuesday as they take on Harrisburg in the IHSA 2A Regional Semifinals at Harrisburg. If the Lady Bulldogs win on Tuesday they will advance to the Regional Championship Game next Saturday.
The Carmi-White County Boys Track team hosted the Black Diamond Conference meet yesterday at Harrington-Jeffries Sports Complex and the Bulldogs finished in 3rd Place out of 9 teams.
1st Place finishers and BDC champions for the Bulldogs were;
Beck Huff – 100 Meter Run
Jayde Albright – 400 Meter Run
Mitchel Edwards – High Jump

The Bulldog Track team will head to Fairfield next Wednesday for the IHSA 1A Sectional meet.
The Carmi-White County Girls Track team traveled to Webber yesterday afternoon for the IHSA 1A Sectional and 10 Lady Bulldogs will be heading to the IHSA State Finals.
The 4×4 Relay team of Ellie King, Callie Winter, Aubrey Kessler, and Audrey Taylor finished in 2nd Place, qualifying them for the State Finals.
The 4×8 Relay team of Callie Acord, Makyla Seibers, Gabbie Conover, and Ally Pollard also qualified for the State Finals, finishing in 2nd Place.
Norah Taylor qualified for State in High Jump.
Torrie Rider placed 4th in Shot Put, qualifying her for the State Finals.
Those ladies will head to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston next Thursday for the 1A State Finals.
The Carmi-White County Boys Tennis team hosted Salem yesterday afternoon at Bradshaw Park, and the Bulldogs fell by a final score of 8-1.
Ian Goemaat was the lone winner for the Bulldogs. Carmi falls to 5-6 on the year, they will host Mt. Carmel on Monday for the final match of the regular season. They will travel to Herrin for Sectionals next Friday.
