The Carmi-White County Girls Basketball team defeated Edwards County on the road last night by a final score of 52-50.
It was a back and forth game from start to finish, but the Lady Bulldogs held a 7-point lead at the half. Edwards County answered back with a run in the 3rd quarter and both teams would trade punches in the final two quarters. Carmi would take the lead once and for all with just under 4 minutes left to play on a layup by Caroline Simmons. A couple of big defensive stops and crucial free throws in the final minutes lifted the Lady Bulldogs to a huge conference victory.
Simmons led Carmi in scoring with 22 points.
Addi Elliott scored 12 points.
Torrie Rider scored 8 points.
Ashlyn Rager scored 6 points.
Jaya Smith scored 4 points.
