The Carmi-White County Boys Basketball team fell to Edwards County last night on the road by a final score of 40-38.
The Bulldogs trailed by as many as 12 in the first half, but they were able to cut it to 4 at halftime, and they would eventually take the lead with just under two minutes left in the game before the Lions took it back and hit their free throws to hang on.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 9-13 on the year and 2-4 in the Black Diamond Conference.
Carmi will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Flora to face the Wolves in another BDC battle.
The Carmi-White County Wrestling team hosted West Frankfort last night for the final home match of the season. Prior to the match, the Bulldogs honored their two seniors, Travor Mason and Kale Wiggins.
The Bulldogs put together one of their best efforts of the season against arguably their toughest opponent of the season but they came up just short, losing 39-38.
Jazz Duckworth, Kale Wiggins, Cole Evans, Branson Burnett, Laeden Vargas, Connor Benham, and Nolan Garner all picked up wins for the Bulldogs.
Carmi-White County will host a twelve team IHSA Regional Tournament this Saturday at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. Wrestling will begin at 9 AM.
The Carmi-White County Girls Basketball team will travel to Mt. Carmel tonight to face the Lady Aces in a battle of two of the top teams in the Paris 2A Sub Sectional.
The Lady Bulldogs come into tonight’s game with a 15-8 record, meanwhile Mt. Carmel is 22-4.
Fans can watch and listen to tonight’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel. Varsity will begin around 7:30 PM.
