The Carmi-White County girls basketball team defeated Flora last night by a final score of 47-41.
It was a rough night for the Lady Bulldogs offensively, as they shot just 13-for-44 from the field including just 2-for-13 from 3-point range. However the Lady Dogs hit their free throws when it mattered, hitting 19 of 24 free throws to pull away with the win.
With the win, Carmi-White County completes the perfect season in the Black Diamond Conference, going 10-0 in BDC Play. It is the first time Carmi has gone undefeated in the conference since the 2008-2009 season.
The Lady Bulldogs improve to 24-4 on the season.
Mara Serafini led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 15 points.
Ashlyn Rager scored 11 points.
Johanna Smith scored 9 points.
Addi Elliott scored 6 points.
Caroline Simmons scored 4 points.
Torrie Rider scored 2 points.
The Lady Bulldogs will host Gallatin County on Monday for their final home game of the season. They will then wrap up the regular season with a trip to Woodlawn next Thursday.
Carmi-White County will be the 4 seed in the Newton Sub-Sectional, Robinson was given the top seed with Mt. Carmel being 2 and Teutopolis being 3.
The IHSA will release the regional brackets this afternoon.
The Carmi-White County boys basketball team will host Flora tonight at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs come into tonight’s game with an 18-5 overall record and a 5-1 record in the Black Diamond Conference.
Carmi will then travel to Mt. Carmel tomorrow afternoon to take on the Golden Aces. Varsity will tip-off around 3:30 PM.
